So this time around VM's presumptive biggest rivals weren't in the team competition, so we're left to understand Virtue and Moir are a bit lacking in the tech department, since they're getting docked for imaginary missed key points and nonexistent edge imprecision. That will really be the ultimate planned humiliation - to pretend Gabriella Doesn't-Even Bother-To-Care-About-Steps-And-Footwork Papadakis is more precise on pattern dances, chocktaws and footwork than Tessa Virtue. We know it's coming.

The team win and Virtue and Moir's placement is pointless absent the French, since we can't see if the tech controller scrupulousness over invented edge placement issues in VM will be extended to scrupulousness over the standard slop presented by the French, or if we're going to see ceiling shattering "That's how it's done!" scoring in TES. It would figure, though. Davis White were defeating Virtue & Moir in pcs while the public relations were telling us Virtue and Moir were struggling technically. If Papadakis & Cizeron win, the media relations will say their ineffable, undefinable, ethereal floaty magic carried the day, while a scan of the protocols will reveal that the judges decided one of the sloppiest teams ever to stand on a podium were technically more precise than the greatest technical skaters to ever step onto a rink.

I wonder if we'll ever get instant replay on a key point or choctaw transition. Nobody's gotten around to it - wonder why.

  1. what happened. why would they come back if this was going to happen ? and who's to blame? is it skate canada? bc someone lied to VM and they and their backers should know who. theyre clearly going to win silver.

  2. I'm skipping out on watching the IE. Can't stomach the farce...though there's a tiniest sliver of hope in me that I'll be proven wrong. Enough to restore my hope in the integrity of FS

  3. @ 9;05AM

Those aren't mistakes and sloppy technique. It is high art. A whole new style of ice dancing, so freeing that you don't have to worry about edge quality and any other ice dance criteria. And only they can do it. The peasants must continue to be judges according to the rules until they are as exalted as P/C. Bow down, y'all.(Being sarcastic here)

    1. btw i HATE the changes VM was forced to make. the direction change is gone. the faux throw. the lift. some of the steps in the diagonal and even the transitions. i cant. it's insane.

    2. I agree. I don't know why they didn' t keep it as is. Yeah yeah I get that they want more flow. It already had it. The IT factor too. Trying to make it flow (like *cough* you-know-who) isn't meant to be in this MR program. The change in the lift is fine but the others stuff. I'm thinking "why?"

  4. Because the Koreans are shitty in showing the skating. Spider cam shots, skips before edge switch on the chocktaw. Lutz edges... Everything wrong...

  5. wow, you sure have a lot of hate. An entire blog dedicated to vitriol about an ice dance couple. How sad. Maybe you should try building people up in the world. You'd be a lot happier.

    1. @skatergirl errr I think you haven't wade through all of this blog content. You'll be pretty shocked at its content just pertaining to Tessa and Scott. (Hint: it's not in a good way). If you want to look at the skating, there's truth to it too. The blogger isnt the only one who voice this opinion. But yeah I'd to see how that Choctaw that was clearly marked low and we don't see where and how it is that way. A replay of their own screen (if there is such a thing) to the public on the day and explanation to that call would greatly clear up any of this. All sports have it. Hockey, football, tennis ... But no ... It will not happen so it's based on their version and what they say and for us the public to accept it. Until then I guess if you're p/c uber, you'll be assured of the predetermined scores and place. That is the injustice that ppl can't stomach. We want what's fair. But again FS is subjective, and not sport as ppl like to claim it to be. So artistic value of the season or feels trumps over actual technique with artistry.

    1. They have arrived in Korea, if that's what you're asking. And it's been confirmed in p/c fan boards

    2. ok. i was wondering when they would get there. it's so weird that they werent there for so long. do u know if they will practice in same rink with VM?

    3. Correction @ 12:25PM Yes, they opted out of doing the Team Event and Opening ceremony too. They fly out today but apparently will be at practice early Wednesday. Usually skaters share rink during practice times. Pairs/Men's/Wome's & Ice Dance - They are allocated a time to run their programs in the rinks.

  7. I wold like to ask a question: with whom Tessa and Scott went to Seoul if MF and P have been seen at the Pairs short program???
I just watched James/Cipres and MF and P were clapping at them!!!

    2. Err think of it this way, you don't train 24/7, do you? Why can't MF and Pat also take advantage during their (probably) free time to cheer on other athletes? And I'm pretty sure skaters (including v/m) do take breaks from time to time. They just finished the Team
event and according to social media boards, they were training the next day after that. Maybe they chose not to attend to do other things. Who knows. But reassured they are training. And still entitled to do what they want when it's their free time.

    3. Tessa and Scott can coach themselves blindfolded with their arms tied behind their backs. They don't need Marie France and Patrice except as cover.

    4. For the record, I have no problem with D/L's schedule, but transfer this four years back and a lot of fans justifying this situation sang a different tune despite that coach being present for V/M's practices.

    5. patrice is now with them in Seoul, he didn't attend the pairs FP and was spotted in a pic. I thought MF was going with team canada during the abroad period of training while P would stay with HD. not sure what changed there...

  8. right now i'm just getting more and more freaking annoyed by others who constantly tell me left & right that it's somehow OK to just be happy for v/m to settle for silver because it's out of hands (true) and /or that it's (kind of) written (i.e. predetermined) on the wall that winner will go to the French (without actually watching them compete and have chance for the OG medal). Why is this acceptable in the first place?! Urgh!

    2. You know what's insane? It's that goddamn awful SD which scored above V/M at GPF! I actually watched and replayed (and even stop captured some sections in) that competition and there was NO WAY IN HELL that their performance justified those scores. It was blatantly obvious then we know who they (judged) are set to prop up to win the OGM at Olympics. Stinks hight to heaven ...

  9. Any thoughts to the supposed satanic undercurrents/ contents of V/M's sd?

    1. 3:55 Can you elaborate?

    2. What hogwash. If anyone should be asked about "satanic undercurrents", it should be the Rolling Stones, because it's their song. V/M probably chose it because this particular version had a Latin feel.

    3. Ppl will only find reason to hate. *Ignore*

    4. Satanic undercurrents.
There sure are a lot of them. I honestly think they secretly worship devil and after every sd they sacrifice a child.

      Is this question even serious?

      Regards,
      Margot

    5. Margot, I don't know anything about ice dancing, I came here from a conspiracy theory page. Sorry for the question.

    6. This whole "satanic worship" theory is nonsense. Read the Wikipedia: "Jagger stated that his influence for the song came from Baudelaire and from the Russian author Mikhail Bulgakov's novel The Master and Margarita". Of course it's about the devil, because the novel is about the devil (character named Woland). It's just a song with great rhytm. I love that V/M chose this type of music, it's different, fresh and not overused in figure skating.

    7. 7:32 - there's nothing to be sorry for, I was just really amused with this question. Conspiracy theories abound everywhere, I guess.
Seriously, Sympathy for a Devil is one great song even though I'm usually not into this type of music at all. It's just as much about worshipping devil as Master and Margarita (which is a greatest novel ever written, no? Clearly)

      Cheers,
      Margot

  10. V/M use a Rolling Stones piece of music called Sympathy for the Devil as their first of three pieces they use in their SD. Here's a link to they lyrics and music as sung by Stones https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBecM3CQVD8
Take from that as you will.
